[ARCHIVED] Hanover County opening warming and charging station in Montpelier

Hanover County Government is opening a warming and charging station at the Montpelier Recreation Center at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2022. The warming and charging station will be open until 10 p.m. on Tuesday and will re-open at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 5. Hours on Wednesday will be 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

Water and restrooms will be available as well as electricity and phone charging services. The Montpelier Recreation Center is located at 17203 Sycamore Tavern Lane, Montpelier VA 23192. 

Facial coverings are required at the Center as well as social distancing. In addition, Winns Baptist Church will make overnight accommodations available on Tuesday night provided the people are onsite by 10 p.m. Winns Baptist Church is located at 12320 Winns Church, Glen Allen VA 23059. Hanover County has been busy responding to the emergency needs of the community, including reaching out to the at-risk population to assess their needs, advocating power restoration with Rappahannock Electric Cooperative as soon as possible, doing damage assessment. Hanover Fire/EMS has been working with the Department of Public Works and Hanover Sheriff's Office to clear roads.
