[ARCHIVED] Hanover Museum of History & Culture and Welcome Center Hours

Museum and Welcome Center hours

Beginning Monday, October 4, the Hanover Museum of History and Culture will be transitioning the Smithsonian traveling exhibit, Crossroads: Change in Rural America to its next location in Danville, VA. The Hanover Museum of History & Culture wishes to thank the estimated 1,200 visitors that experienced the exhibit for their visitation and support since August 26 and the Ashland Museum for its partnership in bringing the exhibit to Hanover County and its support in staffing the exhibit as well.

The Museum and Welcome Center will be open again beginning this Thursday and Friday, October 5 and 6 then shifting to its ongoing operating hours of Tuesdays through Fridays, 12:00 – 4:00 pm and Saturdays 10:00 am - 2:00 pm beginning October 12, 2021.

The next exhibit, Common Threads of Hanover will open Friday, October 15 and will run through December 12, 2021. Hanover is rich with stories about its rural past and traditions. This exhibit will bring the literal and traditional fabric of these stories to life. In partnership with the Country School Quilters, a Hanover County Parks and Recreation program group, this exhibition will display historical and modern quilts in Hanover County, sharing the stories of the people who made them, exploring the changes in the craft over generations, and demonstrating the artistic ways in which these simple scraps of fabric symbolize the world around us.

Please stay tuned for updates regarding programming related to this exhibit.
