Site preparation has begun on a major road project that will involve road closures and detours in the Atlee Station Road area.

Traffic detour impacts for the Atlee Road Extension Project will begin in October.  Detours will affect routes to schools and some school bus routes.  Construction is expected to continue through the Fall of 2018.

The project includes construction of a bridge over the railroad, closure of the existing rail crossing and Cool Spring Road connection to Atlee Station Road.  Cool Spring Road will be connected to the new Atlee Road Extended.  The project also includes a traffic signal at Atlee Station Road and the new Atlee Road extension.  Sidewalks and accommodations for bicycles will also be constructed as part of this project.

The project was the subject of a community meeting held at Atlee High School on June 7.
