On April 28, the Board of Supervisors held a public hearing seeking nominations for School Board seats representing the Cold Harbor and South Anna Districts. Participation was high, with three citizens submitting their names for each position.
In the Cold Harbor District, Sabrina Civils, Steve Ikenberry and Patrick Wells announced their candidacies for the School Board seat. Civils identified herself as Finance Director for Essex County Public Schools; Ikenberry as a 28-year teacher at Lee-Davis; and Wells as an educator for 19 years, including 14 in Hanover.
Longtime Cold Harbor District School Board representative Norm Sulser is not seeking reappointment. Sulser had served 16 years on the School Board. “It’s been an honor and a privilege,” he told the Board.
In the South Anna District, Kelly Evko, Bob May and Aleisha Miles are the candidates. Evko is the incumbent, having been appointed last year to fill out the unexpired term of Sue Dibble, who was elected to the Board of Supervisors. May is a 26-year Army veteran and businessman and Miles’s background is in banking and financial services.
Cold Harbor District Michael Herzberg and Mrs. Dibble, the South Anna District Supervisor, are expected to nominate their chosen candidate at the Board’s May 26 meeting, at which time the full Board will make the appointments.
