If you live or work in the Chickahominy Health District, which includes the counties of Hanover, Goochland, New Kent, and Charles City, and still need your first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, walk-in hours are available for adults, ages 18 years and older, on Mondays and Fridays from 9:30 am-11:30 am and 1:00 am-3:30 pm (limited to 200 walk-ins per day)

Evening hours will also be available (by appointment only) on Wednesday, April 21 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm.  This clinic is for residents needing their first dose.  Walk-ins will be offered from 4:30-6:30 that day, limited to the first 200.

“We realize that it might be difficult for some people to come to the vaccination center during the workday,” said Jim Taylor, Deputy County Administrator.  “If we find that there is much demand for evening hours, we will try to offer more evening clinics in the future.”

The Hanover Vaccination Center is located at 135 Junction Drive in Ashland and the vaccine is Moderna.  

Last week, the Chickahominy Health District announced the expansion of the vaccine campaign to Phase 2.  Now, everyone 16 and older is eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine, although the Moderna vaccine is only approved for those 18 and older. Community members can contact the district’s call center, 365-3240, to get assistance with finding a provider who can vaccinate those ages 16 and 17. 

Those who live in Hanover, Goochland, New Kent or Charles City can also fill out the Chickahominy Vaccine Clinic Availability Survey and receive an appointment via email. This interest form is also available on the Hanover County website.

“While many residents in our community have already received at least one dose of the vaccine, we continue to encourage everyone to get it,” said Dr. Tom Franck, Chickahominy Health District Director. “Now, all adults are eligible to do their part to protect themselves and the people they care about.”
