[ARCHIVED] Hanover County COVID-19 vaccination center has walk in hours for seniors 70 and older

If you live or work in Hanover County and are in Priority groups 1a, 1b, or 1c, you can now call to schedule an appointment for the COVID vaccine.  The County is currently scheduling the Moderna vaccine and some Johnson & Johnson with some availability this week.  The Chickahominy Health District, which includes Hanover County, Goochland County, New Kent County, and Charles City County, has been performing quite well and is now finding fewer eligible people still on the waitlist.  Hanover County has a goal of administering vaccines to 66,000 people, which is about 75% of the adult population.  So far, over 55,000 doses have been administered to Hanover residents, which represents 85% of the goal (for at least one shot).

Additionally, ONLY Chickahominy district residents who are age 70 and older may “walk-in” on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. for their vaccines, if desired (no appointment required).  The vaccination center is located at 138 Junction Drive in Ashland, Virginia, in the old Food Lion building in the Ashland Junction Shopping Center.  This is an option for only those ages 70+, and ID will be required. Appointments will be required for all those ages 69 and younger.

This week, the Chickahominy Health District announced the opening of vaccine eligibility to 1c, which includes people who work in the following industries: water, wastewater and waste/recycling removal; energy, housing and construction; food service; transportation and logistics; institutions of higher learning (faculty and staff); finance; information technology & communication; media; legal services; public safety (including engineers), other public health workers; and barbers, stylistics/hairdressers.

People in Priority Groups 1a, 1b, and 1c can call the Hanover County call center at 365-3240, Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to schedule an appointment.
