[ARCHIVED] CARES Act Housing and Food resources still available for Hanover residents

Limited funds remain to assist Hanover residents who are facing challenges with mortgage, rent, utility or food expenses due to the coronavirus national emergency.  This assistance is available through the end of February or until funds are depleted.

Hanover County has received an extension to utilize the remaining funds from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act and are continuing the partnership with United Way of Greater Richmond & Petersburg.  United Way has distributed the funding to community partners to provide direct assistance to those in need. The following Hanover community partners will be managing this assistance:

  • Ashland Christian Emergency Services; ACES (food, rent, mortgage, utilities); 798-2784; www.aceshanover.org

Funds were also provided to Feedmore to support the services of local food banks and Meals on Wheels. United Way will work with Hanover County Government to ensure that the funds are spent appropriately in order to maximize their benefit to the intended population.

The Hanover County Board of Supervisors made the funds available from the County’s Coronavirus Relief Funds under the CARES Act.

Those in need of assistance must apply to one of the listed organizations.  Organizations will be assisting Hanover residents based upon availability of funding.
