On the anniversary of September 11, 2001, we pause to reflect on the events which forever changed our country, the courage of so many individuals, and the resilience and strength that followed the events of this day.

In New York City, firefighters, law enforcement and other public safety personnel demonstrated valor that will be remembered through the ages. We honor them. We also remember those civilians in the Twin Towers who sacrificed their lives to save others.

We will never forget the sacrifices of those at the Pentagon and the passengers on Flight 93 that gave their lives to prevent the fourth plane from striking a target in Washington D.C.

Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, we are unable to hold our annual ceremony with the Woodmen of the World today. However, that does not mean that we have forgotten all of the heroes of 9/11 and the heroes that serve us today, whether in uniform or not.

Please join me in a brief moment of silence at 8:46 AM, the moment when the first plane crashed into the north tower of the World Trade Center. We remember all the innocent Americans lost, the brave first responders who perished, and their many loved ones. While it is difficult and painful to remember that day, we must never forget it.
