[ARCHIVED] Board approves resolution supporting Ashland to Petersburg Trail segment

The Board of Supervisors has adopted a resolution supporting the construction of a segment of the Ashland to Petersburg Trail (ATP) between Holly Hill Road and the planned Woodman Road extension in Henrico County.

The Ashland to Petersburg Trail Study is a proposed multi-use trail corridor that would extend approximately 43 miles. The trail would accommodate bicyclists, pedestrians and other active transportation users.

In Ashland, the trail follows part of the historic Ashland-Richmond trolley line. The segment that was the subject of the resolution adopted by the Board on July 22 is in the South Anna District.

Chickahominy District supervisor Angela Kelly-Wiecek seconded the motion by South Anna District supervisor Sue Dibble, saying she fully supports giving families the opportunity to get outside and have healthy family recreational activities.

Ashland District supervisor Faye Prichard said that Ashland restaurants are already benefitting from the increase in business from additional bicyclers.
