Master Gardeners are specially trained by Virginia Cooperative Extension which is a group of Specialist and Extension Agents who extend knowledge of Virginia’s Land Grant Universities: Virginia Tech and Virginia State.
Hanover Master Gardeners have a schedule of winter classes that begin on January 4 at the Mechanicsville Library. The subject on January 4 will be Container Gardening. The class begins at 9:30 a.m.
Subsequent classes are all held at libraries: landscape design at Ashland on January 11; Roses at Atlee on January 25; Bats at Mechanicsville on February 1; Perennial Flowers at Ashland on February 8; Growing tomatoes in the home garden at Mechanicsville on February 15; Pruning Basics at Ashland on February 22; Organic Gardening at Mechanicsville on February 29; Native and honey bees at Mechanicsville on March 7; how to plant a tree so it gets a fighting chance at survival at Atlee on March 21; and Birds at Ashland on March 28.
