Absentee voting for the June 11, 2019 Republican and Democratic Party primary elections is now available, according to Hanover General Registrar, Teri Smithson. Only qualified voters registered in the 12th Senate District, Beaverdam, Chickahominy, Cold Harbor or Mechanicsville Magisterial Districts may vote absentee in-person at the Hanover Voter Registration & Elections Office or vote absentee by mail. Virginia citizens that have registered to vote and meet one of the 20 eligibility requirements on the Virginia Absentee Ballot Application or at www.vote.virginia.gov are eligible to vote absentee.
Citizens can register to vote online or by submitting a completed voter registration application to the Hanover Voter Registration & Elections Office.
The deadline to register or update your personal information is Monday, May 20, 2019 in order to vote in the June 11 primary elections. In-person absentee voting is available in the Hanover Voter Registration & Elections Office Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and on Saturday, June 8 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The deadline to request an absentee ballot by mail is 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2019. Apply as early as possible to avoid delays in mail delivery. Absentee ballots returned by mail must be received in the Hanover Voter Registration & Elections Office by 7:00 p.m. on Election Day. Voters can request an absentee ballot online at www.vote.virginia.gov
Virginia law requires voters to present an acceptable photo identification when voting in-person. Please visit www.vote.virginia.gov for a list of acceptable identifications. Information for obtaining a free Virginia Voter Photo ID card is also available on the site along with upcoming election information and registration status.
