17 Hanover Youth Graduate from Latest High School Fire Academy

Academy 47 6-7-18

The commencement ceremony for Hanover’s High School Fire and EMS program was held on June 7 at Atlee High School.  Seventeen (17) graduates from Fire Academy #47 received their diplomas.


Graduates of Academy #47 were Alyssa Christian, Hailey Cook, Isabelle Cook, Zachary Green and Tanner Mahoney of Lee-Davis High School; Emily Clarke, Cole Dillingham Jr., Megan Powell and Josh Thornbloom of Patrick Henry High School; Christopher Garrett, Austin Gray, Will Green, Ethan Lackey and Cody Wickham of Hanover High School; McKenzie Johnson, Jacob McCann and Mya Whitaker of Atlee High School.   Hailey Cook was the Valedictorian and Zachary Green was named Honor Graduate.


The graduates were assigned to the following stations to begin their Fire / EMS careers in Hanover County:

  •  Megan Powell and Josh Thornbloom, Station 2 (Beaverdam).
  •  Hailey Cook, Isabelle Cook, Will Green, Jacob McCann and Cody Wickham, Station 3 (Eastern Hanover).
  •  Austin Garrett, Station 4 (Doswell).
  • Alyssa Christian, Emily Clarke, Austin Gray, Zachary Green, McKenzie Johnson, Ethan Lackey and Mya Whitaker, Station 6 (Henry).
  • Cole Dillingham, Jr. Station 8 (Montpelier).
  • Tanner Mahoney, Station 12 (Black Creek).


The High School Firefighter / EMT program is offered by Hanover Fire / EMS through a partnership with J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College and Hanover County Public Schools.  The graduates earned college credit and their registration fees and books for related classes at JSRCC were paid for by Hanover Fire / EMS. 


Graduates completed 320 hours of training.
