Come Explore Historic Hanover with Hanover County Parks & Recreation!

Travel with us on the Road to Revolution. This tour will visit key sites in the life of Patrick Henry. Beginning from the Court House we will drive south and east through the area of the county where Patrick Henry was born and raised.

Our ride will take us by Slash Church, where Henry's uncle was the minister and Pole Green Church site where the young Henry often attended church. Visit Rural Plains which is open especially for this tour and hear an older Patrick Henry, who on a return visit will reminisce about his marriage there to Sarah Shelton. A box lunch and other Henry sites will be included. (Program Number 6650)

Sit back and relax as we explore the Towns of Western Hanover.  Many of the towns of western Hanover developed around the railroads as settlers moved away from the rivers. Explore the development from the mid-19th through early 20th centuries of Doswell, Beaverdam, Montpelier, and Ashland with your guide. Visit the former Mt. Hope Methodist Church in Doswell, Sycamore Tavern in Montpelier among others. Gain a whole new appreciation of western Hanover as you explore the many unique sites of the area. Lunch included. (Program Number 6651)

These annual tours of Hanover County are generously supported by Richmond Region Tourism and Hanover County and will take place on Saturday, May 19. Each tour includes a box lunch, snacks and water.
