Bring your cans of paint to the special recycling event at the Mechanicsville Solid Waste Center (east side) for recycling.
Is your basement, garage, closet or storage space collecting cans of old paint that you want to get rid of? Central Virginia Waste Management Authority (CVWMA) and Hanover County are proud to offer residents a new, unique way to get rid of paint waste and to keep it out of landfills.
DO NOT mix paint together. In order for the paint to be properly reused and recycled, the contents need to match the label on the outside. There will be a $5 charge per container (cash, check or charge accepted) regardless of the container size.
This new, unique recycling opportunity is provided as a pilot by CVWMA, Hanover County and Yuck Old Paint LLC. Paint that is usable can be distributed to reuse channels, including humanitarian construction projects, theater groups and licensed contractors.
Contact Raea Jean Leinster at Yuck Old Paint 1-888-509-YUCK (9825) for more information on this recycling program.
CVWMA provides recycling and solid waste management initiatives to 13 municipalities including the Counties of Charles City, Chesterfield, Goochland, Hanover, Henrico, New Kent, Powhatan and Prince George, the Town of Ashland and the Cities of Colonial Heights, Hopewell, Petersburg and Richmond.
