[ARCHIVED] Rabies Vaccination Clinic Saturday at Hanover Courthouse

All dogs and cats (including so-called ‘barn cats’) are required by law to be vaccinated for rabies at four months of age.  You also must have tags and a valid license proving the vaccination for dogs.

Hanover County Animal Control makes it easy for people to get their pets vaccinated by holding rabies vaccination clinics in the fall and winter.  Vaccines will be administered at a cost of $8.00 per dog or cat.

The final rabies vaccination clinic for the winter season will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018, from 9:00 a.m. to noon at the East Hanover Rescue Squad, located at 8105 Walnut Grove Road in Mechanicsville.

At each of these clinics, the veterinarian will administer the shots to the pet at your vehicle; do not bring pets into the building!  You will complete your registration inside the facility and return to your vehicle.  Drive to the area designated for vaccination.  You will be expected to leave the vaccination area as soon as you are done.

Only healthy, non-pregnant animals will be vaccinated.  No wolf hybrids or animals other than domestic dogs or cats will be vaccinated.

The vaccination is good for up to three years unless the pet has never had a rabies vaccination before, in which case it is good for one year.  Place the rabies tag on the dog’s collar and keep certificates for proof of vaccination.
