Television sets, computer equipment and monitors are now being accepted for recycling at the Hanover County Courthouse Solid Waste Convenience Center and Rt. 301 Transfer Station.
These types of e-waste will be accepted from residents at the Courthouse Solid Waste Convenience Center at no charge:
· Computer Processing Units (CPUs) or the “black box”
· Laptop computers
· Wires, cables and electric cords
If the e-waste is primarily metal it can be placed into the metal recycling container at any solid waste convenience center.
Residents can place TVs and monitors in the trash unless they want to pay to have it recycled at the Rt. 301 Transfer Station.
The following TV/monitor recycling rates apply for residents, businesses, governments and institutions:
· Old style TV/monitor $12
· Old style TV over 40 inches diagonal $35
· Flat screen TV/monitor $6
Other e-waste (computer processing units, laptops, wires, cables, electric cords, keyboards, mouse, printers and copiers) from businesses, governments and institutions will be recycled at a cost of $50 per ton.
The trailers accepting these items for recycling are located at the Hanover Courthouse Solid Waste Convenience Center and Rt. 301 Transfer Station and are accessible during normal hours of operation for those facilities.
