All dogs and cats (including so-called ‘barn cats’) are required by law to be vaccinated for rabies at four months of age. All dogs must also have tags and a valid license proving the vaccination.
Hanover County Animal Control makes it easy for people to get their pets vaccinated by holding rabies vaccination clinics in the fall and winter. The first of three such clinics will be held at the Western Hanover Church at 16050 Mountain Road in Montpelier on Saturday, October 28, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Vaccines will be administered at a cost of $8 per dog or cat. The veterinarian will administer the shots to the pet at your vehicle – do not bring pets into the building. You will complete your registration inside the facility and return to your vehicle. Drive to the area designated for vaccination. You will be expected to leave the vaccination area as soon as you are done.
The next clinic will be held on December 9 at the Hanover County Administration Building.
