Hanover County was formed by action of the Virginia General Assembly on November 26, 1720. In 2020, the County observed its 300th birthday.
Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, public events were cancelled. However, planning for the celebration continues and the hope is to have aspects of the celebration, including the opening of the Hanover Museum of History & Culture, in 2021.
