How can I set my civil case for trial?
Answer: There are two convenient ways to set your civil case for trial.
A trial date that is convenient for all counsel of record and unrepresented parties may be selected by calling circuit court chambers at (804) 365-6161. Make sure the case is ready for trial, and that you have the other party(s) available dates prior to contacting circuit court chambers.
If you want to set a case for trial on Term Day, you must file a praecipe in the clerk’s office no later than 4:30 p.m. on the Tuesday prior to Term Day. MAIL OR DELIVER IT TO: Frank D. Hargrove, Jr., Clerk of Circuit Court, Attention: Civil Division, Post Office Box 39, Hanover, Virginia 23069.
The civil docket is called at 2:00 p.m. on the third Tuesday of every other month starting in January.
