Purpose
Pedestrian Citizen Engagement Committee promotes an enhanced and expanded bicycle and pedestrian network.
Scope
The committee reviews options for enhancing alternative transportation options within the County, educating citizens about the health and lifestyle benefits of a viable pedestrian and bicycle circulation system, identifying short term opportunities to improve the pedestrian and bicycle circulation system within the Suburban Service Area, prioritizing enhancement projects, and identifying potential local, state, federal and private funding sources for project implementation.

Membership
The committee is comprised of a representative recommended by each Supervisor, one at-large member, and one member from the Hanover Chamber of Commerce to represent business interests. In addition, technical members are comprised of representatives from the Planning, Parks and Recreation, Public Works, Hanover County Public Schools, the Health Department, the Richmond Regional Planning District Commission, and Bike/Walk RVA.
Terms of Service
The Committee is expected to complete its charge by June 30, 2017, and provide a report to the Board of Supervisors in the first quarter of FY 2018.
