Generally meets 6 times per year in addition to committee meetings scheduled as needed and college commencement.
Generally at the Parham Road Campus although at least 1 meeting a year is held on each campus.
Comprised of a 15-member Board of Directors with representation from the counties of Goochland, Hanover, Henrico, Louisa, Powhatan and the City of Richmond. JSR College Board membership is relative to the population size of the local jurisdiction and Hanover is represented by 2 positions on the Board of Directors; appointed by the Hanover County Board of Supervisors.
Terms of Service
4-year terms generally start on July 1 of the designated year
To act in an advisory capacity to the State Board for Community Colleges and perform such duties with respect to the operations of the College as may be delegated to it by the State Board
Provides access to education that develops individuals for employment and career advancement, prepares students for successful transfer to colleges and universities, builds a skilled workforce that contributes to regional economic development, and promotes personal enrichment and lifelong learning.
It also serves as a liaison between the State Board for Community Colleges and the county or city governments in the college’s service area, helps to promote educational programs of high quality, encourages community participation in program planning, reviews college budgets, approves a detailed budget for local, auxiliary, and vending budgets, approves facilities and campus changes, and consults with the chancellor on the selection and performance review of the college president.
