Purpose

The Historic Courthouse Area Advisory Committee provides advice to the Board of Supervisors and County Administration regarding proposals for activities, events, funding and future plans that are proposed within the historic courthouse area. The committee promotes this historic area as a cultural and educational center of the county and ensures its preservation for future generations.

Scope

The oversight area includes the buildings and grounds bounded by the Courthouse Library to the south, the Bicentennial Park to the east, the old Clerk’s Office to the north and U.S. Route 301 to the west. The area is part of the Hanover Courthouse Historic District, which is listed in the Virginia Landmarks Register.
