On August 23, 2023, the Board of Supervisors adopted a policy on solar installations within the County. The policy not only guides the siting, location and land use decisions related to Solar facilities but also addresses fiscal policies to ensure the siting, permitting and revenue generation of these facilities occurs in an objective and reasonably predictable manner.
Due to the amount of land that is required for these uses, it is anticipated that most installations will be in the more rural portions of the County. The policy is intended to guide the location and development standards for solar facilities while striving to maintain our rural character and protect our historic, natural, cultural and scenic resources. The provisions are also intended to meet the goals of planning and zoning under the Code of Virginia and to provide for the health, safety and general welfare of our community.
