Why do we use a Class B Gas Fed Simulated Live Fire Burn Building?

  • This building uses LP gas instead of wood to simulate a fire. This helps our members limit the number of carcinogens they are exposed to by limiting the products of combustions that may be in burning materials.
  • Very low smoke output from this, similar to a new grill
  • It includes theatrical smoke system to make environments visually more realistic to a fire scene when desired
  • It has a complex monitoring system for toxic gas and heat throughout the structure
  • It allows firefighters in training to focus on flame behavior

Hanover Fire-EMS Training provides initial and ongoing training opportunities to career and volunteer members of the department. Courses offered are certified by the Virginia Department of Fire Programs, the Virginia Office of EMS, the American Heart Association, and the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT).
