Montpelier Park Recreation Center and Library Project
The Hanover County Montpelier Recreation Center and Library project has received zoning approvals and is currently under design. The project consists of a roughly 20,000 square foot building which will house a recreation center with a full-size gymnasium and two classrooms in addition to a new library with a conference space and study rooms. The project also includes a new paved parking lot, construction of a relocated ballfield (Wickham Field), and connecting walkways.
The Board of Supervisors also approved a special exception permit which allow for lights on the ballfield. The lights will be in the project bid as an option and the timing will depend on the construction costs of the project. Once a bid is awarded, construction of the project is expected to take about 18 months.
