Hanover County recognizes the benefit obtained by its residents from outside and non-governmental organizations. Community organizations may request financial support through the County’s annual budget process.
Requests for contributions to community organizations must be received by the finance department no later than November 15th of each year for consideration to receive funding the following July. In their request, organizations should detail the services provided to county residents, indicate an approximate number of residents served and give an estimated value of those services.
Organizations must be eligible to receive support based on the Code of Virginia § 15.2-953. While the County will review requests for eligibility, it is expected that organizations submitting requests have also ensured they are eligible to receive a contribution.
Recommended funding amounts will be included in the County Administrator’s proposed budget that is released in late February. The public hearing on the budget is held in late March and budget adoption is in early April.
