Senior Police Academy

Program Overview

An 11-week course geared towards educating senior citizens on the many facets of their law enforcement agency. Also covers topics such as identity theft, personal safety and fraud.

Participants will hear individual unit presentations from officers and also spend one class session at the firing range, where students will experience various demonstrations.  Participants will also have the opportunity to schedule a ride-along with a patrol deputy during the session.

Program Details

  • Must be at least 55 years of age
  • Must be a resident, business owner or county employee
  • Criminal background check will be conducted
  •  Yearly session held in the spring (April through mid-June)
  • Class meets one day per week from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
  • Location varies each year in an effort to accommodate all areas of the county
  • Applications are accepted on a continual basis

Successful completion of the Senior CPA makes offers eligibility for participation in the Sheriff’s Office volunteer program.
